Your Big Fat Texas Wedding
Everyone seems to be into destination weddings these days. I keep hearing about Cabo, Miami, Costa Rica, and other places for weddings, but I never hear anything about people wanting to wed in the Lone Star State!
A wedding in Texas is something not many people think about when they think of a destination wedding, but I would check out some of the venues we have to offer.
Why not? We have many places, even right here in Harris County.
I can suggest a few areas that may be good places to wed in the great State of Texas.
I’ll divide these wedding destinations into a few categories.
1. Country Clubs
Garden Valley in Lindale, Eagles Bluff in Lake Palestine, The Cliffs in Possum Kingdom Lake, Pinnacle Golf & Boat Club in Payne Springs, and Woodbridge, over in Wylie. All beautiful wedding day destinations that will have a scenic area for gorgeous wedding day photos.
2. San Antonio Area
Right here in Harris County there are a number of great places to tie the knot. Check out: La Cantera Resort & Spa, The Marquardt Ranch, and Inn on the Riverwalk.
3. North Texas
If you are going the other direction (north) here are a few areas of interest that could make great wedding destinations.
Noah’s in Las Colinas, Paradise Cove on Lake Grapevine, Rough Creek Lodge, and lastly Patricks Pastures.

Walker, Texas Ranger
The NCAA basketball tournament brought up a very funny comment by Jim Nance, who was commentating the game along with Clark Kellogg and Steve Kerr. Jim Nance referred to the superstar, who was named the most outstanding player of the tournament, Kemba Walker, as “Walker, Texas Ranger.” A seriously trivial reference which made me ponder my past and think about the show that I used to know and love.
Are there any Walker, Texas Ranger fans here?
Perhaps you have seen the show, which stars the one and only Chuck Norris. The same Chuck Norris who has been compared to everything that means “MALE” on this planet. The same Chuck Norris that is stronger than everyone, knows more skilled karate kicks than anyone, and the same Chuck Norris that still gets props when they are due.
Texas may not be as hip and cool as say, Miami. We may not have the same luxury condos and insane Miami Real Estate that everyone dreams of owning. It’s all big houses, big food, and big shopping malls. Did I say big highways? Thats the number one thing that keeps me interested in driving in Texas. You can share the road with a souped up F-150 and still have plenty of room to do your thing. Everything is big in Texas, and it’s a place where people can come and live large.
Texas also boasts the Ranger: Walker. Chuck Norris himself. The man that doesn’t need an eye cream, because his face just doesn’t succumb to the pressure of environmental damage from the sun or other factors. This man looks the other way when people talk about looking younger, because Walker, Texas Ranger, lives so large he wouldn’t need treat dark circles with a dark circle eye treatment, even if he had them. The fact of the matter is, Walker is probably the most well known super hero, if you want to call him that, from Texas.
Other than Walker, I can name a few Cowboys who are semi famous: Troy Aikman, Mike Irvin, Emmit Smith, and Deion Sanders. They all won the Super Bowl with the Cowboys in the early 1990′s, and they all made their mark on Dallas. Michael Irvin runs a talk radio show now on ESPN Dallas, and Emmitt was recently on Dancing with the Stars.
Is there anyone else anyone can name who belongs in the same breath as Walker, Texas Ranger? I can not think of a bigger super hero/ super star in the Texas area.

Well, I’ve officially seen it all. I thought that I’d seen all the stuff out there related to smoking. I smoked for years, and tried every way of quitting that was humanly introduced. The patch, the gum, the diets, the trips away to other remote locations, I’ve gone to the moon and back with all of these ‘stop smoking’ treatments. However, nothing worked. I really like the action, the doing, of smoking cigarettes. The hand motion, the movement, the puffing, the exhaling and watching smoke burst into thin air. It’s all there for me, and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Why? I don’t know, but it just does.

The electronic cigarette was first made in China, from what I’m told, and it’s now infiltrating the USA and it’s becoming a very regular thing in the world of alternatives to smoking tobacco cigarettes.
Also called an e cigarette, this is powered by a battery. It actually heats up liquid nicotine, and upon doing so, it reaches a heating element and eventually is drawn threw a cartridge called an atomizer. The atomizer dispenses vaporized “smoke” into the user’s mouth, creating a sensational burst of vapor that dissolves in just seconds into thin air. There is no smell, no flame, no lingering odor in this vapor cigarette. In what some people call the best quit smoking method ever, there is very little room for error.
